おりづるの群れ：熱帯から日本へ、そして再び熱帯へ

私にとって、人生そのものが最も重要な芸術作品です。二人の子の母であり、表現者である私は、現在コロンビアにて「人間と、人間を超えた存在」が交差する場を創り出しています。今回の日本での6ヶ月間の滞在は、私にとって単なる異国生活ではなく、故郷を再発見するための「迂回路」となりました。

今回おこなうのは、日本のおりづるを皆さまと共に創り上げるワークショップであり、一つのパフォーマンスです。 素材となるのは、5歳のアガタと1歳のベラ、二人の娘たちが街で見つけた「紙のコレクション」。公園やカフェで見つけた紙、レシート、ポスター、学校での作品……。それら日々の記憶の断片を使い、日本でのかけがえのない時間をつるに折り込んでいく共同制作です。

このプロジェクトが形を成す場所、OGU MAG+との出会いもまた、運命的なものでした。 公園からの帰り道、娘たちをママチャリに乗せて走っていた私は、大きく開かれた窓扉と、差し込む光、モンステラの緑に目を奪われました。故郷の風を感じさせるその光景に、吸い寄せられるように足を踏み入れると、オーナーのヒデコが太陽のような笑顔とスペイン語混じりの英語で迎えてくれたのです。それは単なる偶然ではなく、私たちがここで出会うべくして起きた「意味のある偶然（シンクロニシティ）」だったのでしょう。

自身の人生そのものを芸術の最前線に据え、日常と表現が溶け合う「拡張芸術（Expanded Arts）」の実践に専念している。

「多様なアートワールドの視点」への深い関心から、世界各地を巡るフィールドワークを活動の核とする。アルゼンチン・パタゴニアの最南端、エチオピア・ラリベラの石造寺院、ノルウェーの海藻林、ユカタン半島のセノーテ、そしてガラパゴス諸島の深海へと足を運び、身体に刻まれた直接的な体験を作品へと昇華させてきた。

日本との関わりは2018年、現代アートシーンの調査のために初来日したことに始まる。その際、豊島の内藤礼による《母型》（マトリックス）との衝撃的な出会いを果たし、その経験は彼女の芸術家としてのキャリアに決定的な影響を与えた。

現在は、コロンビアのメデジンで10年にわたり発展を続ける、家族運営の芸術・生態学・現代文化の拠点「HUMANEES（ヒューマネース）」を軸に活動。家族という最小単位のコミュニティから、人間と人間を超えた存在との交差点を描き出している。

An orizuru swarm. From the tropics to Japan and back to the tropics.

Life is my most important work of art. As an artist and mother of two, I create spaces for human and more-than-human encounters. As a family of four, we have recently relocated to Tokyo for six months. This stance in Japan has been a detour back home.

A performative act as an open workshop to come and share the creation of a japanese orizuru swarm. A wooden table and board, and my daughters’ “paper selection” Ágata-chan (5 year old daughter) and Vera-chan (1 year old daughter) from parks, cafés, receipts, posters, school creations will be at provision. A collective artwork as a means to treasure some of our family memories in Japan.

OGU MAG

OGU MAG + felt like home. A big welcoming window door, its natural light and a Monstera plant caught my attention. I was in my Mammachari with both girls in their “siesta” coming back from the park. By chance or more precisely, a meaningful coincidence, I stopped and went in. Hideko-chan smiled and welcomed me in English mixed with some Spanish.

Bio

Artist, mother and curator.

In the art scene, she dedicates her practice to expanded arts where she brings her life at the forefront of art.

Her interest in diverse Art World perspectives incited travelling the world for first-hand experiential fieldwork. The southern tip of the Argentinean Patagonia, the paved mountains in Lalibela in Ethiopia, the underwater kelp forests of the Atlantic in Norway, the Cenote caverns in the Yucatán peninsula, and deepest waters of The Galapagos Islands, are some of her most embodied experiences.Carolina came for the first time to Japan in 2018 for a one-month research on the Japanese contemporary Art World and surprisingly came across Rei Naito’s Matrix work in Teshima which deeply influenced her art career.

Most of her artwork has been exhibited in Humanese, her family-led center for the arts, ecologies and contemporary cultures that has been growing for a decade in Medellín.

Carolina holds a Master’s in Contemporary Arts from Université Paris VIII in Paris and a second Master’s of Arts from New York University (NYU).
